44 Musings from a 50-year-old

44 Musings of a 50-year-old mind

As a child, I “knew” for sure that people in their 40’s were past the sunset of their lives; never mind 50. Those were the grannies at the parties with their children and grandchildren asking them to be careful with them dance moves lest they trip and fall.  50 meant you’re old, gray, and tired; and forcing some tired, and awkward farewell dance to the other afterlife.

Here I am today at 50, not feeling any of these. Today, I’m still energized, strong, happy, still dancing with the same fervor and energy of my 20’s, and honestly, still ready to go for 50 more trips around the moon. My mind does feel 50, ( the reason it’s in your best interest not to mess with me)😉; my body feels 20, and my spirit feels 10! I am so loving all of these interwoven and mangled childish and mature parts of me.

I am so grateful to the Almighty for looking out for me always. Showing me through life’s beautiful and tough moments that I am always loved, protected, and deserving.

I will share with the world; the lessons I’ve learned during these 50 trips I’ve made around the moon. Most of these lessons are in my spiritual guidebooks and are my personal blueprints that have helped me live life as joyfully, passionately, and as authentically as possible. Here they are:

1.       When you love life; life will always love  you back. Loving life means you purposefully infuse joy, love, and light into every person and situation you encounter.

2.       Life is simple but not easy; we mostly complicate our lives by thinking we can muscle our way through life on our own. The truth is that we can never quite do life 100% on our own. There’s an ally, force, divine presence, God, or whatever your faith or belief system calls it, that’s always waiting in the wings to journey through life with you. Utilizing this force erases the difficulties while unlocking the simplicity of life.

3.       There are so many curve balls and detours along the way; there’s beauty and peace in accepting situations you cannot change. These are the one’s you’ve complained about, fought against, and still fell short. Surrendering to that force will unlock peace for you.

4.       Discovering and embracing the divine parts of you will make you courageous, confident and powerful! There's raw potent power in standing on nothing but your divine presence of truth!

5.       Some people will like you, others will not. It's okay. Do you really like you? The answer would in fact determine the trajectory and altitude your life will eventually  attain.

6.       Forgiveness and happiness must be your constant allies should you desire a life of success, peace and harmony.

7.       True love can be self-sacrificing. It demands hard work and putting others ahead of yourself. The more you practice it, the easier it becomes.

8.       Understand that every action you take is ultimately reverted back to you. Essentially, everything you do to others ultimately gets sent back your way by this all knowing and all loving universe. When you understand this universal principle, you learn to love radically and avoid hurting others.

9.       When Love rules in a relationship, everything else magically falls into place.

10.  Loving your mate is the best gift you would ever receive. Notice I didn't say, "being loved by your mate." The giver almost always becomes the true receiver when it's all said and done. The truth is that most of us aren't quite able to grasp the full power and dimensions of Love.

11.  It's a lot easier to get along with others when you love yourself; it's easier to trust others when you know you too are trustworthy.

12.  Everyone is capable of unconditional love but only very few are ready to put in the back-breaking work required to get there.

13.  Hard as this may sound, try to place no barometers on the love you bring into your relationship. There isn't such a thing as too much loving; even if there is, no one ever died from too much loving.

14.  Children are perhaps my greatest teachers; they've  taught me the true definition of patience, the way the dictionary couldn't have quite envisioned.

15.  Never stay in a dead-end relationship for the sake of children or societal pressures; the world deserves to see, meet and greet you in your most resplendent splendor; happy, peaceful and loving!

16.  Courage is the second most powerful virtue! Love is preeminent and those who truly walk in love literally walk on landmines of miracles.

17.  Hard work leads you to success; kindness and hard work gives you more success; consistent kindness and hard work gives you enduring success.

18.  Life never lets you leave its classroom until you’ve fully understood a particular topic, until then, the tests on that topic will keep coming until you pass in flying colors.

19.  What upsets you most in others are often parts of yourself you need to either embrace or change.

20.  Not everyone is meant to be a part of your next chapter. For some, the stage for that next chapter is way bigger and intimidating for them to come aboard with you. You don't have to drag them along if they do not want to. Keep moving.

21.  You are the hero you've consistently sought in others; the truth is that you have never met your true magnificent and heroic self. The work of unraveling that self is your life’s mission.

22.  The world needs more awakened women as women are by themselves, potent forces of nature; capable of transforming for good, our entire universe. Most don't realize the might of the force they wield.

23.  It's okay not to know all of the answers. When in doubt of your next move, surrender to the divinity within you and trust your internal navigation which can never lead you astray.

24.  When you truly know who you are, the negative, hurtful, or snide remarks of others become mere noise and mindless chatter. It can’t stick. If it’s still sticking, you need to keep working on it.

25.  What people think or say about you should never hurt you; they have a right to their thoughts and opinions. What you think or say about yourself does transform into your reality.

26.  No one deserves your love, kindness and understanding more than you;  only the excess of these in your life can flow into the lives of others around you.

27.  Money comes only in adding value to the lives of people. No value, no money.

28.  Whenever you hear the phrase, "you changed," be happy because that means that you grew. Life is about constantly growing; hopefully into a better version of your yesteryears.

29.  We were sent here to grow ourselves into the best versions possible. No one but yourself can get that task accomplished.

30.  When you have faith in yourself, your life begins to emit the twin vibes of goodwill and success. The magnetic field around you feels palpable and powerful.

31.  Faith in yourself translates to faith in the Almighty because you dared to affirm the divinity in you.

32.  The vibes you've put out so far define your current reality. You don’t like your current reality? Change the vibe of your life.

33.  Life becomes blissful and beautiful when the set of lenses with which you view life is dripping in love.

34.  Your body responds to every single thing you think, speak, and feed it; honor  your temple; your body is the singular reality and reminder of your physical presence here, housing your timeless spirit and soul; take care of it.

35.  Life will always mete out to you what you've meted out to others; sometimes in equal dividends, other times quadrupled. What are you giving to others?

36.  Love is a multifaceted investment. When you genuinely care about a person, it's normal to invest wholeheartedly in their joy and peace of mind.

37.  Envy and jealousy are by products of fear. You can't be fearful when you know and are busy loving all  the magnificent parts of you.

38.  Listen carefully to the overarching theme of a person's view about others. Over time, you'd notice a common thread. The themes of those views are in reality a reflection of who they are. Good, wholesome people often have positive feed backs about others and vice versa.

39.  Laughter, sleep, writing and red wine are time tested pals that have just never failed this 50-year-old girl.

40.  When you're busy navigating every valley and mountain along your path of travel, you have no time left to criticize, disparage or belittle others. You have enormous work to do while navigating your own path. Stay in your lane.

41.  I find personally find humility, simplicity and open-mindedness very sexy.

42.  My opinions and perspectives are uniquely mine; your opinions and perspectives are uniquely yours. It's never a question of right or wrong. It's all perspective.

43.  We are each a little piece of one another in this infinite cosmic existence. You can't love or hurt another without altering the universal balance. If you must alter this balance, alter it with love.

44.  People are mostly good at their core but would mostly defer to the energy you bring into each encounter with them. Check your frequency before your every encounter.

Happy Birthday to me!!!. Im sending you so much love today.
